Banking Jargon Translator for Plain-English Communication
Banks are required to communicate clearly with customers, yet policy documents and product terms remain dense with jargon that ordinary readers cannot parse. Turning phrases like subordinated debt obligations or standing instruction mandate into plain English at scale is a real institutional need and a well-scoped first generative AI project. The intern builds a translation pipeline in python where users paste complex banking terms or entire policy passages. A langgraph workflow structures the process into stages that detect jargon, generate a simplified rendering, and check that the simplification preserves the original meaning, while an agentic-ai layer coordinates the flow and routes text back for another pass when the check finds drift. Openai models perform the actual rewriting, producing beginner-friendly language with short clarifying examples where helpful. The finished tool takes intimidating financial text in and returns prose a first-time customer could understand. The project teaches controlled text simplification, the discipline of checking AI output for faithfulness, and multi-stage workflow design, leaving the intern with a demonstrable communication tool and transferable prompt-engineering skills.
