Compliance-Ready DevOps Platform for Finance Microservices

Financial services run on microservices that must ship fast without ever breaching compliance, and the DevOps platforms behind them are held to a higher bar than most: every deployment auditable, every configuration enforced, every anomaly logged. This project builds such a platform end to end. The intern constructs a secure deployment platform for finance microservices using Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for orchestration, with Jenkins pipelines automating build, test, and release. Terraform provisions the underlying infrastructure as code and Ansible enforces consistent configuration across environments. Nginx fronts the services with hardened network rules, Prometheus and Grafana provide metrics and dashboards, and the ELK Stack centralizes logs with a security focus — feeding audit trails that, together with automated policy enforcement in the pipeline, keep deployments aligned with financial regulations. The intern emerges with rare breadth: hands-on experience across the modern DevOps toolchain, plus the compliance-conscious engineering mindset — audit trails, policy gates, least-privilege networking — that finance and other regulated industries specifically hire for.

Zero-Downtime Deployment Pipeline for E-Commerce Platforms

For an online retailer, deployment downtime is directly lost revenue, and slow release cycles mean losing ground to faster competitors. Modern e-commerce engineering therefore treats the deployment pipeline itself as a product — automated, resilient, and safe to run many times a day. The intern builds that pipeline end to end: Jenkins drives continuous integration and delivery, Docker packages the e-commerce services, Kubernetes orchestrates them at scale, and Terraform defines the infrastructure as reviewable code. Ansible manages configuration across environments and Nginx serves as the reverse proxy at the edge. The pipeline supports multi-stage deployments through development, staging, and production, performs zero-downtime rolling updates, and rolls back automatically when health checks fail. Security Event Log Pipeline for Suspicious Pattern Detection

Security teams drown in logs: authentication events, network flows, and application errors arrive from every system at once, and the signal of an attack hides inside millions of routine entries. The infrastructure that collects those events at scale and mines them for suspicious patterns is core to modern security operations, and this project has the intern build it. Simulated security event logs from multiple sources are ingested in real time through Kafka, providing a realistic multi-stream feed. Events land in HDFS for scalable retention, and batch PySpark jobs analyze the accumulated logs to detect suspicious patterns, such as repeated failed logins followed by success, activity at anomalous hours, and bursts from single origins, and to generate summary reports for review. Python scripts orchestrate the pipeline and automate the data engineering tasks around it. The deliverables are data artifacts and reports only, keeping the project honest about its infrastructure focus with no web or mobile components. The intern gains hands-on big-data experience framed by security monitoring: streaming ingestion, distributed storage, detection logic in PySpark, and the modular pipeline design that security-scale data demands.

Secure Listing and Access Management Platform for Real Estate

Real estate platforms handle data worth protecting: property listings that must not be tampered with, agent identities, and records of who viewed or changed what. Security and auditability are the product here, which makes this project a deep exercise in building a backend where access control is the central design concern. The intern builds the platform in Java with Spring Boot. The backend manages property listings, user roles for agents and administrators, and comprehensive access logs, with MySQL providing persistence. Spring Security with JWT handles authentication and fine-grained authorization, while aspect-oriented programming (AOP) implements cross-cutting logging so every sensitive operation is recorded without cluttering business logic. Async background checks run verification tasks, such as vetting new listings, without blocking requests. The system is built with Maven, deployed with Docker, and fronted by an Angular application where agents manage listings and admins review users and audit trails. The intern learns enterprise security patterns, AOP-based audit logging, and asynchronous processing, and finishes with a rare portfolio piece: a system whose headline feature is trustworthiness.
