Cross-Organization Patient Data Exchange With Interoperability Standards

Added Jun 2025 3 design docs

A patient's history is scattered across every provider they have ever visited, and when organizations cannot exchange records, care gets duplicated, delayed, or dangerously uninformed. Interoperability is one of healthcare's hardest and highest-value engineering problems, and the teams who can build for it are scarce. The intern builds a secure exchange platform with Django and PostgreSQL where healthcare organizations share anonymized patient records under interoperability standards. Data integration pipelines in Python normalize records arriving in different source formats, machine learning models analyze the pooled data to surface care optimization insights, and treatment outcomes render as comparative visualizations across organizations. Collaborative case management lets clinicians from different institutions work a shared case under role-based access, secure APIs govern every exchange, and Docker containerizes the services so the platform deploys cleanly across organizational boundaries. The intern gains experience in exactly what health-tech employers prize: standards-based data integration, privacy-preserving analytics, secure API architecture, and applying data science to fragmented real-world clinical data.
