Household Energy Usage Tracker with Goal Setting and Insights
Households and small businesses only discover their energy waste when the bill arrives, weeks after the behavior that caused it. A tracker that turns meter readings into visible trends, goals, and concrete efficiency tips shifts energy management from an annual shock to a daily habit. The intern builds the product as a mobile application backed by a full server side. In the React Native app, users log meter readings, browse usage trends across weeks and months, set consumption targets, and receive efficiency tips tied to their own patterns. A Spring Boot backend aggregates the readings, computes trend and comparison analytics, generates periodic reports, and produces the actionable insights the app surfaces, such as flagging a month tracking well above target. Core flows include reading entry with validation, goal creation and progress tracking, and report generation, all synchronized between backend and mobile client. The project exercises backend data aggregation, mobile data visualization, and the engagement mechanics that keep users returning. The intern completes it with hard evidence of full-stack mobile development skill applied to a sustainability problem with obvious real-world value.
