Market Insight Collection and Briefing Tool for Founders

Added Jun 2025 3 design docs

Founders and small business operators make pricing, product, and expansion decisions with whatever market awareness they can scrape together between everything else. Industry reports are expensive, and manually monitoring competitor moves and sector news takes hours a week that early-stage teams cannot spare. What they need is a lightweight tool that collects market information relevant to their business and compresses it into short, decision-ready briefings. The intern builds that tool as a Python web service on Flask. The application lets a user define areas of interest, such as an industry segment, competitor set, or product category, then collects related market information and passes it through OpenAI models to produce structured briefings: what happened, why it may matter to a business like the user's, and what is worth watching next. The intern implements the collection layer, the summarization prompts that keep briefings concrete rather than generic, and endpoints for retrieving current and historical briefings so trends become visible over time. The project gives the intern a grounded introduction to building business intelligence features with generative AI: gathering and structuring source material, engineering prompts for analytical rather than conversational output, and serving results through a clean Flask API that a small company could adopt as-is.
