Agricultural Trade Marketplace Connecting Farmers and Buyers

Farmers often sell through long chains of intermediaries that eat margins and obscure product provenance, while buyers struggle to verify quality claims. This project builds a marketplace that connects farmers, suppliers, and buyers directly, with certification documents attached to the products they back. The intern implements an Express and Node.js backend with MongoDB for product listings, orders, and user data, adding Redis as a caching layer so browsing and search stay fast under load. JWT-based authentication and authorization separate farmer, supplier, and buyer roles; Multer handles secure upload of certification files that let sellers substantiate organic or quality claims. Order management and secure payment flows carry a purchase from listing to fulfillment, and advanced search and filtering help buyers find exactly the produce they need. The React and TypeScript frontend, styled with Tailwind CSS, presents the marketplace cleanly to every role. The intern comes away having built a multi-sided commerce platform with caching, document uploads, and role-aware order workflows, demonstrating the backend depth and product thinking that real agritech startups are built on.

Role-Based Authentication and Session Management Portal

Authentication is the front door of every web application, and it is where real products most often fail: weak password storage, broken session handling, and missing authorization checks are perennial causes of breaches. This project has the intern build that front door properly, as a complete, security-first authentication system rather than a bolted-on afterthought. The intern implements user registration and login on an Express and Node.js backend with MongoDB, hashing passwords with a modern algorithm and issuing JWT-based sessions that the frontend consumes safely. Role-based access control distinguishes ordinary users from administrators, protecting sensitive routes on both the API and the Next.js, React, and TypeScript frontend, which provides polished, Tailwind-styled flows for sign-up, sign-in, and account management. The project emphasizes the details that separate secure systems from vulnerable ones: token expiry and refresh, input validation, and defense against common attacks on auth endpoints. Completing it gives the intern a working reference implementation of web security best practices and the ability to explain, concretely, how modern applications keep user identity and sessions safe.

This project builds a two-sided platform that serves both audiences: a discovery and booking experience for users and a management workspace for organizers. The intern develops the platform on an Express and Node.js backend with MongoDB, implementing authentication and role-based access so organizers and attendees get distinct capabilities. Organizers create and edit events, upload promotional images through secure file handling, and track bookings from a dedicated dashboard; attendees browse and search events, book places, and manage their reservations.
