Operations and Inventory Management App for Small Businesses

Added Nov 2025 3 design docs

Small business owners run operations from memory and message threads: stock levels live in someone's head, task assignments get lost, and there is no report at the end of the week. Affordable operations software changes how these businesses function, and building one exercises the full modern app stack. The intern builds a mobile-first operations platform. A Node.js backend with PostgreSQL handles authentication, role-based access for owners and staff, inventory records with stock movements, task workflows with assignment and status tracking, and generation of operational reports. The React Native app gives the team daily tools: logging activities, updating stock as goods arrive and sell, assigning and completing tasks, and viewing dashboards that summarize the day at a glance, with real-time notifications keeping everyone aligned. Flows include onboarding a business, adding inventory, assigning work, and exporting a weekly operations report. The project teaches relational modeling of business processes, backend workflow automation, and dashboard-driven mobile UX. The intern finishes with a realistic product for a massive underserved market and clear evidence of full-stack capability.
