Small Business Digital Transformation Roadmap

Added Jul 2026 3 design docs

Walk into any old market lane in Delhi and you will find shops that have survived twenty years on trust, credit, and memory. The khata notebook holds who owes what, the stock count lives in the owner's head, UPI payments arrive but nobody reconciles them, and the shop has no listing at all when a customer three streets away searches for it. These businesses are not against technology; they have simply never been given a plan that fits a four-person shop with no spare time and no software budget, so every attempt starts with an app nobody opens by week three.

The intern builds that plan for Sunrise Hardware and Paints, a fictional 22-year-old shop in Karol Bagh with four staff, about 70 walk-ins a day, and roughly ₹1.1 crore of annual sales. The work starts with a digital maturity assessment scoring eight capability areas from level 0 to level 4, then turns the gaps into a 12-month roadmap of three waves, each initiative written up as a one-page card with its rupee cost, staff owner, weekly time cost, and payback in months. Supporting it are a cost-benefit workbook in google-sheets, a tool comparison shortlist, a starter presence pack for the shop's Google listing and instagram feed designed in canva with two posts in Hindi, staff SOPs for three daily routines, and an owner briefing deck. Three consented shopkeeper interviews, digital audits of five comparable shops, and a 30-customer tally survey keep the plan grounded.

The intern finishes with the core consulting skill set: assess a current state honestly, size the gap, sequence the fixes by payback rather than by novelty, and write it so a busy owner can act on Monday. Digital transformation, business analyst, and operations consulting roles all run on exactly this cycle, and a roadmap that respects a ₹25,000 first-year budget shows far more commercial judgement than a deck full of buzzwords.

Product Launch Go To Market Plan

India adds thousands of new packaged consumer products every year, and a large share of them quietly disappear within two quarters. The reason is rarely the product itself. Founders confuse a launch with a launch announcement: the packaging is ready, an influencer posts a reel, and nobody has decided who the first thousand buyers are, what shelf the product is fighting on, how much a single customer costs to acquire on each channel, or what number on day 90 would count as success. A go-to-market plan is the document that forces those decisions before the money is spent, and it is the single most common piece of work a junior marketing or strategy hire is handed in their first month. The intern writes that document end to end for Bajra Bites, a ₹40 millet-and-peanut protein bar from a fictional Pune food startup called Anaaj Foods, launching across Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru on a ₹12,00,000 budget. The work includes a competitor and pricing matrix covering eight rival bars built from store visits and public listings, three customer personas validated against a 60-response consumer survey run in google-forms, a positioning statement and messaging house, a channel economics model in google-sheets that computes cost per acquired customer, contribution margin and break-even units, a dated 90-day launch calendar running from T minus 30 to T plus 60, a set of instagram-ready creatives designed in canva, and a KPI scorecard with day-30, day-60 and day-90 targets. It all lands as a 14 to 18 page go-to-market plan plus a 10-slide version for investors. The intern finishes with the exact skill set brand, growth and category management teams interview for: segmentation, competitive benchmarking, positioning, unit economics, channel budgeting and launch project management. More importantly, the intern finishes with proof. Instead of claiming an interest in marketing, they can hand over a plan where every rupee of a launch budget is allocated against evidence, which is a far stronger opening line in an interview than any coursework grade.

Crisis Management Case Study and Response Playbook

A single phone video can now cost an Indian consumer brand more in a weekend than a bad quarter ever did. Someone films a foreign object in a snack packet on a Friday night, the clip crosses fifty thousand views before the company's first shift arrives on Monday, food-safety officials in two states take note because they saw it on their own timelines, and distributors start holding orders while the head office is still deciding whether to reply at all. The damage is rarely caused by the incident itself; it is caused by the silent hours, the defensive legal wording, and the fact that nobody had decided in advance who speaks first. The intern works on both halves of that problem for Anandam Foods, a fictional Indore namkeen brand selling across six states. Half one is a forensic case study: an hour-by-hour reconstruction of a 96-hour crisis, a stakeholder map, an analysis of five decision points where the company chose badly, a damage assessment, and a counterfactual first six hours, all benchmarked against three publicly documented consumer-brand crises read through news archives and coded for media tone in google-sheets. Half two turns those findings into a working response playbook: four severity levels with numeric triggers, a crisis team chart with named backups, a 90-minute first-response checklist, eight pre-approved holding statements tested on 30 respondents, a social response matrix, a hostile-question media brief, and a 90-minute tabletop simulation with timed injects, written in google-docs and packaged with canva and powerpoint. This is how corporate communications, public affairs, and risk teams actually work: study what went wrong, then convert each finding into a rule someone can follow at 2 am. The intern finishes with a portfolio piece that proves judgement under pressure, source discipline, and the rare ability to write calm words for a bad day, which is exactly what agency and in-house communications interviews probe for.

Startup Business Plan and Pitch Deck

Around every large Indian campus there is a floating population of students living in PG rooms with no kitchen, eating a rotating mix of mess food, sixty-rupee street thalis, and app-delivered biryani that costs three times what a home-cooked meal would. Small tiffin services spring up to serve them every semester, and most fold within a year, not because the food was bad but because nobody ever costed a meal, priced a plan, or worked out how many subscribers the kitchen needed before it stopped losing money. The gap is not culinary, it is managerial. The intern founds a fictional venture on paper and takes it all the way to an investable proposal. Working around a tiffin subscription called Tiffin Trail, the intern runs a demand survey in google-forms and a round of student and PG-owner interviews, prices three subscription plans against a per-meal cost build-up, models thirty-six months of revenue, costs, and cash in google-sheets with named unit economics such as contribution margin, customer acquisition cost, and break-even month, maps five competitors across eight attributes, drafts a business model canvas in notion, and packages the whole thing as an eighteen to twenty-two page business plan, a one-page executive summary, and a twelve-slide investor deck designed in canva. By the end the intern has practised customer discovery, pricing, financial modelling, competitive analysis, and the specific discipline of making a plan, a model, and a deck all tell the same story without contradicting each other. These are the skills every incubator interview, consulting case round, and business-analyst assignment tests for, and a repository holding a complete founding document set is far stronger evidence of them than any elective on the transcript.
